Brenden Rader #53, TJ Robertson #54, Mitchell Schares #24

Introduction

Kennedy Freshman Boys Basketball Green Team went against Iowa City West on Monday Dec. 17th winning 43-27 make the overall score of wins and loses 5-2. TJ Robertson leading the team with 13 points and 8 rebounds. I contacted both TJ and Mitchell the next evening to ask a couple questions, however i wasn’t able to contact Brendan due to lack of time.

                Starting off I asked both of them how long they have been playing basketball for; TJ has been playing for 10 years while Mitchell has been playing for 9 years. The first things most people ask is why do you play, and that's exactly what I asked next TJ decided to go more in depth talking about his passion for basketball because of how its a competitive sport and how it teaches him valuable life skills like teamwork and communication also working hard  in tough situations. Mitchell kinda went to a different perspective saying that it keeps him in great shape,its a lot of fun, also it makes him forget about all the stress and drama in life.

TJ’s highlight of Monday nights game was when “Ending the kids Basketball career by blocking him” however I wasn’t able to get the “kids” basketball number. Mitchell talked more about  the team working together to win and figuring out what they did wrong. Mitchell also talked about how he was having a hard time making his free throws so he took 4 hours over the weekend and he was happy to make some of them. I asked the both of them if they ever talked about quitting and if so what made them stop. TJ said he never has thought about that however, with Mitchell he stated, “Everything, I don’t give up that’s the last thing on my mind.” Getting pumped for a game can be tough however mitchell and TJ know what to do, Mitchell has a couple was he approaches it but it's different depending on the game  sometimes he might just stay quiet and “channel his energy” or one other way he does is by getting loud with his team, also he listens to music. TJ prefers to watch basketball games and listen to music.

“I love this game and I can't wait to play my next one!”- TJ
